Please reach out to your local legislators and urge them to support allocating capital outlay funds to improving the Boca Negra Horseman's Complex!
Boca Negra Horseman's Complex
The Boca Negra Horseman's Complex is New Mexico's only public cross country course. 160 acres of land was donated in 1970 by Elsie Shollenbarger and her family to the City of Albuquerque for use as an equestrian complex. Buildings and arenas were constructed with City involvement, New Mexico Horse Council expertise, and hardworking volunteers from local horse groups. The cross country course was built and maintained by local clubs such as Watermelon Mountain Pony Club, the NM Dressage and Combined Training Association, the Juan Tomas Hounds, and the New Mexico Horse Council, with jumps from tadpole up to preliminary. The Boca Negra Horseman's Complex is a one of a kind local resource.
